*** DOLPHINS NEWS ***
Jun 17, 1997: -- LB John Fiala and WR Brian Manning Sign --

ESPN is reporting this afternoon that the Dolphins have signed draftee linebacker John Fiala and wide receiver Brian Manning to contracts this afternoon. Both players have signed 3 year deals.

Since both were 6th round draft picks, both will have signed minimum salary contracts of $131,000 per year, with signing bonuses in the range of $50,000 to $60,000.

The Dolphins have now signed 8 of their 14 draft picks, namely WR Yatil Green, CB Sam Madison, OL Jerome Daniels, DE Nicholas Lopez, LB John Fiala, WR Brian Manning, LB Mike Crawford and TE Ed Perry.

The 6 draftees stil unsigned are DE Jason Taylor, OL Brent Smith, LB Derrick Rodgers, LB Ronnie Ward, DT Barron Tanner and CB Hudhaifa Ismaeli.

My Comments:

And the signings continue.

Fiala will join the ranks of young, talented linebackers fighting for a playing spot and Brian Manning will get his chance to compete for a backup receiving spot.

Both will be lucky if they make the team, but both could be good candidates for the practice squad.
