Oct 30, 1996: -- Sean Hill out 2-4 Weeks --
DOLPHINS NEWS:
The Dolphins' Sean Hill will miss 2-4 weeks because of a
sprained left knee that he suffered in the Dallas game this past
Sunday. Hill, who is a backup safety and special teams standout, will
mostly be missed by the special teams.
Also in the news, Jeff Cross is scheduled to return to
practice today after being out for the first 8 weeks of the season
with a bad back. Cross, who is the 4th all-time leader in sacks for
the Dolphins, will have 21 days to work out before the Dolphins must
either activate him, place him on injured reserve or waive him.
And last in the news today, the Dolphins have waived QB Spence
Fischer off the practice squad and signed CB Jerry Wilson in his
place. Wilson played college football at Southern University and was
originally a fourth-round draft choice of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in
1995.
My Comments:
Hill will be missed on special teams, but not too much in the
defensive secondary. He has been the special teams player of the year
for the past two years, but hasn't done much else.
The Dolphins badly need a pass rush, but it is doubtful that
Jeff Cross is the answer. Also, reports on his injury are not good
and he probably will not be much of a factor. I expect that the most
likely scenario is that he'll practice for 3 weeks and then either
retire or be placed on injured reserve.
