Dolphins News: Brew Signs - One Left to Go
*** DOLPHINS NEWS ***
Jul 16, 1996: -- Brew Signs - One Left to Go --
ESPN is reporting this evening that CB Dorian Brew, the
Dolphins' second overall draft pick, has signed a three year contract
with the Dolphins for undisclosed terms. I have also been informed
that Brew showed up for practice today at the Dolphins training camp.
This leaves Karim Abdul-Jabbar as the only Dolphins draft pick
who remains unsigned.
The Dolphins are also reported to have signed a defensive
tackle by the name of Demetrius Edwards and have waived Safety Walter
Smith. More news will be forthcoming as I receive it.
My Comments:
The signing of Brew is good, not only in and of itself, but
because it defines very clearly the kind of terms that Abdul-Jabbar
can expect to receive. Since Abdul-Jabbar was drafted immediately
after Brew, his contract should be nearly identical to Brew's.
Smith was a receiver when the Dolphins signed him and was
moved to Safety. He really didn't have much chance.
If anyone has any information about Edwards, I'd welcome it.
I presume that he's a rookie because there's no information about him
on the NFL Players web site, but that's all I know.
