Dolphins News: James Brown acquired from Jets in trade
*** DOLPHINS NEWS ***
Mar 04, 1996: -- James Brown acquired from Jets in trade --
The Dolphins traded their 5th round draft pick in 1997 to the
New York Jets today in exchange for offensive lineman James Brown.
Brown, a 6'6", 329 lb tackle from Virginia State, started the last 9
games of the season last year for the Jets, but became expendable when
the Jets acquired Jumbo Elliott from the Giants.
The trade reunites Brown with Jimmy Johnson, who originally
drafted Brown in the 3rd round of the 1992 draft. The Cowboys,
however, were unable to find a roster spot for Brown and he wound up
with the Jets.
My Comments:
I know next to nothing about Brown, but he certainly fits the
Jimmy Johnson mold of oversized offensive linemen. If he does weigh
in at 329 lbs, he will immediately become the Dolphins' biggest
offensive lineman, outweighing Keith Sims by 20 lbs.
It will be interesting to see what else JJ has up his sleeve.
